Listen to the interview with Stephen Lewis on Radio Times with host Marty-Moss Coane. 9 October 2007 — "The sexual violence towards women in an area that borders Rwanda has been called the worst in the world by a top United Nations official. To get a better understanding of why we're seeing an escalation in violence and what's being done to help the victims, We'll talk with CHRISTINE KARUMBA, who was born in the Democratic Republican of Congo (DRC) and is now the country director there for Women for Women International. She is currently visiting the United States. Also we'll hear from STEPHEN LEWIS, who is a former United Nations Envoy on Aids in Africa, is calling for the creation of a UN Women's Agency to devise a plan to stop the violence in eastern Congo." — WHYY Radio Times website |
